AARP announced Friday their “Top 10 Movies for Grownups” list for 2016, which represents the best acting, writing, and overall filmmaking for viewers with a “grown-up state of mind.” The films were selected by AARP’s top editors and movie critics. This year’s picks for the best films tailored to adult audiences are:
“The 50-plus movie audience has a unique perspective on the impact relationships have on our lives,” said Myrna Blyth, senior vice president and editorial director of AARP Media. “This year’s Top 10 list tackles the subject of complex human relationships from all angles — family ties, grownup love, and longtime friendship among them. Most importantly, it’s a wonderfully eclectic mix of the year’s most appealing, entertaining, and thought-provoking films for the 50-plus moviegoer.”
The “Top 10 Movies for Grownups” announcement serves as a precursor for the AARP’s annual Movies for Grownups Awards. The ceremony will take place on Feb. 6 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
The winners from this year’s awards show will be featured in the February/March issue of AARP The Magazine, which is set to hit newsstands on Feb. 1.
