Travis Fimmel, star of “Warcraft” and “Vikings,” has joined the cast of “Inversion,” the first film project announced by Facing East, the new Beijing and Hong Kong production company of Philip Lee and Markus Barmettler. The sci-fi picture is to be directed by Peter Segal.
“Inversion” follows a street-wise American con man, and a young Chinese physicist as they race against the clock to save the earth from a terrifying loss of gravity.
Michael Nozik will produce alongside Barmettler and Lee, with Michael Ewing, Segal’s longtime producing partner, executive producing. The screenplay was written by Paul Haggis, David Arata and Bragi Schut.
The film is co-financed by Hong Kong based Pegasus Motion Pictures and Sun Entertainment. Chinese state-controlled distributor, Huaxia Film Distribution will co-produce and will distribute in mainland China.
Principal photography is set to commence in Dublin, on September 12, before moving to locations in Shanghai and Chicago.
Mark Damon’s Foresight Unlimited is handling international sales and expects to complete deals this week in Cannes. Negotiations are continuing for a North American domestic distributor.
