PARIS — California Filmes is in advanced negotiations to acquire North and Latin American rights to “Cave,” Henrik Martin Dahlsbakken’s action-adventure thriller shot in Norway and Mexico.
Sold by Danish outfit LevelK, “Cave” closed the Haugesund Film Festival and premiered in Norway on Sept. 2 to upbeat reviews. It marks Dahlsbakken’s third feature, following his debut” Returning Home” and “Sensommer” (“Late Summer””).
The film follows the adventure of a group of former elite military operatives who set out to explore an uncharted cave system inside a deserted mountain.
California Filmes, which has a track record of Nordic releases, discovered the film at Haugesund film festival.
At Toronto, LevelK is selling “Hunting Flies,” a drama about the rise and fall of dictatorship, “In The Blood, the directorial debut of “A Royal Affair” writer Rasmus Heisterberg, and Amanda Kernell’s “Sami Blood,” about a 14-year old reindeer-breading Sámi girl who is exposed to racism in the 1930’s.
