London-based sales company WestEnd Films has acquired international rights to “Shoplifters of the World,” a comedy starring Joe Manganiello, “American Honey” breakout actress Sasha Lane, and Ellar Coltrane from “Boyhood.”

The movie is written and directed by Stephen Kijak (“We Are X,” “Scott Walker — 30 Century Man,” “Stones in Exile”), and is produced by Untitled Entertainment’s Laura Rister (“Lawless,” “Margin Call”) and 3:59’s Joe and Nick Manganiello.

The film also stars Isabelle Fuhrman (“The Hunger Games,” “Orphan,” “Masters of Sex”), Nick Krause (“The Descendants,” “Boyhood”) and James Bloor (the upcoming “Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool”). The crew includes music supervisor Liz Gallacher (“Elysium,” “Marley,” “Resident Evil”).

The film is a “witty and spirited comedy, inspired by true events, set over the course of one night in the life of four friends that are reeling from the sudden dissolution of iconic British band The Smiths, while the local radio station is hijacked by an impassioned Smiths fan with a gun,” according to a statement.

Principal photography will start early 2017. North American rights are being sold by CAA and Untitled. WestEnd will introduce the film to buyers at AFM.
