Patrick Schwarzenegger and Liana Liberato have come aboard to star in the romantic drama “Undying” for Film House Germany’s Summerstorm Entertainment and Thunder Road Pictures.

Marco Kreuzpaintner (“Trade”) will direct from a script by O’Neil Sharma and Max Work. Gabriela Bacher will produce the fantasy romance drama for Summerstorm with Thunder Road Pictures founder Basil Iwanyk, and Sean Finegan.

Roland Emmerich, Film House Germany’s Christian Angermayer and Klemens Hallmann, and Thunder Road Pictures’ Erica Lee are executive producing alongside Cutting Edge Originals’ Tara Moross and Kreuzpaintner. Lotus Entertainment will handle international sales and begin introducing the film to buyers at Cannes.

“Undying” centers on an 18-year-old (Schwarzenegger) who becomes stranded between life and death when a tragic accident threatens to separate him from his girlfriend (Liberato). Watching from a ghostly afterlife, as she blames herself for his death, he finds a way to reach her in her dreams.

Kreuzpaintner has developed numerous in-house projects at Summerstorm Entertainment, which he co-founded, in addition to directing credits for “Krabat and the Legend of the Satanic Mill,” starring Daniel Brühl and David Kross for 20th Century Fox Germany; “Trade,” starring Kevin Kline, which Roland Emmerich produced; and coming-of-age romantic comedy “Summer Storm.”

Schwarzenegger just wrapped his first leading role, opposite Bella Thorne, in Scott Speer’s “Midnight Sun.” Liberato is currently filming Marti Noxon’s “To the Bone,” starring Keanu Reeves and Lily Collins.

Kreuzpaintner is represented by Gretchen Rush of Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush & Kaller and Die Agenten. Schwarzenegger is represented by Management 360, and Liberato by CAA and Management 360.
