South Africa’s Creative Space Media has announced a new service for foreign shoots looking for added thrills with the use of high-grade military equipment and hard-to-access military locations.
With 11 years experience, primarily working with the South African defense industry, the company is positioned to offer foreign film crews “an authenticity that keeps your audience on the edge of their seats,” according to CSM’s Sizwe Zim.
“We’ve built unique strategic relationships in this industry,” he says.
Representing the Aerospace, Maritime and Defense Industries of South Africa, a local trade group, CSM, offers access to “the best military locations South Africa has to offer,” including a former army base; active and decommissioned military vehicles and equipment, including fighter jets and attack helicopters; aerial cinematography; and a team of stunt pilots, drivers, and base jumpers.
Based in Johannesburg, the company has serviced productions such as “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which was partly filmed in Johannesburg, as well as “District 9” and “Chappie,” by South African helmer Neill Blomkamp.
