In a pre-Cannes Film Festival announcement, John Sloss’s New York-based film and media company Cinetic has launched an international sales division and hired Jason Ishikawa to run it.
Cinetic, founded in 2001, specializes in film finance, sales, distribution, talent management and corporate consulting. It’s previously focused on domestic sales but Cinetic will now be working with existing sales, management and finance teams to devise strategies on film finance and worldwide sales as well as acquiring international sales rights.
“While the domestic and international sales teams will doubtless work together frequently, the international sales dvision is an independent entity. Cinetic will work with filmmakers to craft the best strategy for each film,” the company said.
Ishikawa joins Cinetic from The Film Sales Company, where he was the senior director of acquisitions. During his tenure, the sompany sold over 100 titles across domestic and international territories.
“I’m very excited to be joining Cinetic to launch the international sales division,” said Ishikawa. “I look forward to working alongside our robust domestic sales, financing and management divisions to execute global sales and distribution strategies for our clients.”
“Jason is the perfect fit for our team” said Sloss. “With his enthusiastic love and understanding of film and his knowledge of worldwide rights and markets, we feel he’ll be a major asset to us as we continue to expand our services.”
