‘Boys in Trees’ Director Nicholas Verso Signs With Echo Lake Entertainment

Director and screenwriter Nicholas Verso, whose recent film “Boys in the Trees” premiered at this year’s Venice and Toronto Film Festivals, has signed with Echo Lake Entertainment.

The movie, which was the director’s feature debut, just won best narrative feature at the Austin Film Festival. “Boys in Trees” — set on Halloween night in 1997 — stars Toby Wallace and Gulliver McGrath as two former friends who reconnect and go on a surreal, horrific journey descending into their memories and fears.

The Australian native came onto the scene after his short film “The Last Time I Saw Richard” won an Australian Academy Award, in addition to being honored by France’s Académie des César. He has directed several TV series in Australia, including episodes of “Nowhere Boys” for Matchbox Pictures/NBC Universal.

Verso is currently developing an original TV series for See-Saw Films and Joanna Werner Productions. He was also awarded an Asialink Arts Fellowship to study robotics in Beijing in 2015 and is one half of the art installation duo MerryVerso.

He continues to be represented by Paradigm and RGM Artists.
