Amazon Studios and Broad Green Pictures will co-distribute “The Neon Demon,” starring Elle Fanning, in the U.S. with a June 24 theatrical release.
Broad Green Pictures made the announcement Tuesday, a week before the world premiere of the movie at the Cannes film Festival. Broad Green is handling the home entertainment windows for the horror-thriller before the film premieres on Amazon Prime.
The film premieres at the Cannes Film Festival on May 20 in competition. Nicolas Winding Refn directed from a script he wrote with Mary Laws and Polly Stenham, centered on aspiring model in Los Angeles whose beauty and youth place in her danger from a group of beauty-obsessed women who will use any means necessary to get what she has.
Refn’s “Drive” and “Only God Forgives” also competed at Cannes for the Palme d’Or. The cast of “Neon Demon” includes Karl Glusman, Jena Malone, Bella Heathcote, Abbey Lee, Christina Hendricks and Keanu Reeves.
Producers are Lene Børglum, Sidonie Dumas and Vincent Maraval. Amazon acquired the rights in November.
