Aaron Eckhart to Receive Variety Creative Impact Award

Aaron Eckhart will receive the Variety Creative Impact Award at the Hamptons International Film Festival, it was announced Tuesday.

The Golden Globe-nominated actor will participate in “A Conversation With…” one of HIFF’s signature events. The chat is scheduled for Friday, October 7 at 1 p.m. at Guild Hall. Variety’s Awards and Features editor Jenelle Riley will present Eckhart with the award during the conversation.

Aaron Eckhart is the definition of an actor’s actor, someone who consistently delivers standout performances and is admired by his peers,” said Riley. “This year alone he’s shown his range in two wildly different, but equally excellent, roles.”

“The Hamptons International Film Festival is proud to celebrate Aaron Eckhart’s achievement as he is recognized for his consistently impressive work. His performances in ‘Sully’ and ‘Bleed For This’ could not be more different, which is a testament to his incredible range,” added HIFF Artistic Director David Nugent. “We are excited to partner with Variety in honoring such a renowned and deserving actor.”

Following “A Conversation With…” will be the HIFF Spotlight Films screening of Eckhart’s “Bleed For This” at 3:45 p.m. In the drama, which also stars Miles Teller and Katey Sagal, Eckhart plays boxing trainer Kevin Rooney. Check out the trailer below.

Eckhart’s wide range of roles include the comic book blockbuster “The Dark Knight,” the action film “Olympus Has Fallen,” and the dramedy “Thank You For Smoking.”

In addition to “Bleed For This,” Eckhart will also appear in the upcoming supernatural thriller “Incarnate.”

The 24th Hamptons International Film Festival takes place October 6-10.
