Oscar-nominated “Theeb” has connected with multiple buyers at Berlin. Sold by Fortissimo Films, the film has been sold to JIFF Distribution (Australia), Rialto Distribution (New Zealand), Lemon Tree (China), Neo Films (Greece), Entermode (Korea) and Edko (Hong Kong).

Directed by Naji Abu Nowar, tells the story of a Bedouin boy who makes a treacherous journey across the desert in order to guide a British officer to a secret location.

Film Movement has the picture for the U.S.

French distributor Jour 2 Fete previously acquired the rights for France and will release later this year. Paris Filmes acquired the theatrical rights for Brazil and will release there later this week (Feb. 18.) Earlier deals include New Wave Films (for the U.K.), Cinemien (Benelux) and Fidalgo (Norway).

The Jordanian, U.K., UAE and Qatar co-production is produced by Bassel Ghandour and Rupert Lloyd for Bayt Al Shawareb and Noor Pictures.

“Theeb” competes for the foreign-language Academy Award with “Embrace of the Serpent,” “Mustang, “A War,” and “Son of Saul.”
