Kwak Jae-yong’s thriller “Time Renegades” remained on top of the Korean box office for the second week. The CJ Entertainment release scored $1.67 million from 228,000 admissions between Friday and Sunday for a total of $6.65 million from 933,000 admissions after two weekends.
Disney’s long-running animated feature “Zootopia” also remained in second, earning $1.03 million between Friday and Sunday. The picture now stands on $30.3 million after ten weeks.
Korean sex comedy “The Last Ride” debuted in third, scoring $1.37 million between Thursday and Sunday. The NEW release is the story of two friends who set out to make their dying friend’s last wish come true.
Local thriller “Insane” and period drama “Love, Lies” took fourth and fifth. “Insane” earned $748,100 million between Friday and Sunday, for a total of $7.16 million after three weekends. “Love, Lies” earned $558,600 between Friday and Sunday, and extended its total to $2.73 million after two weekends.
UPI’s “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” dropped to sixth with a week-on-week decline of 61%. It made $474,000 between Friday and Sunday for a total of $2.95 million after two weeks.
“Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension” opened in seventh. The horror movie earned $317,000 between Thursday and Sunday. Opening on Wednesday, crime thriller “Triple 9” took ninth, making $260,000 over opening five days. Re-released after 13 years, Japanese romantic drama “Between Calm and Passion” opened in tenth, earning $154,000 over four days.
