Brett Ratner, a regular visitor to China, will head the jury at the Beijing International Film Festival which gets underway later this month (April 16-23) in the Chinese capital.
While the festival has not yet unveiled the films in the competition it said that they will compete for up to 10 Tiantan Awards. The festival will play 433 movies from 42 territories, and says that 15 will be in competition.
The other jurors include Hong Kong director Teddy Chan, German’s Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, Romania’s Corneliu Porumboiu (“East of Bucharest”,) Japanese director Yojiro Takita (“Departures,”, European director Danis Tanovic and Chinese actress Xu Qing, who recently starred in hit “Mr. Six.”
Ratner is currently riding high in China with “The Revenant” which his RatPac Entertainment co-produced. He was also recently in Hong Kong and China as producer of one of the films on the inaugural slate of Flagship Entertainment, the joint venture between Warner Bros., China Media Capital and TVB.
Ratpac is also an investor in some of the funds operated by CMC.
