SELLER: Tom Felton
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
SIZE: 1,732 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms plus guesthouse
YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: English actor Tom Felton put his humbly sized if hardly inexpensive home near the base of Los Angeles’s Nichols Canyon up for grabs at $1.449 million. Mister Felton, best known for his portrayal of Draco Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” series, purchased the 1920s bungalow not quite two years ago, in December 2014, for $1.275 million, well above it’s last asking price of $1.15 million. Current marketing materials show the single-level residence, hidden behind a high wall of foliage, has two bedrooms plus a bookshelf-lined den — a potential third bedroom — and two bathrooms in 1,732 square feet plus a freshly rehabbed and expanded studio-style detached guesthouse with slightly elevated sleeping area, open kitchen, and remodeled bathroom.
There are peg-and-groove hardwood floors in the combination living/dining room that has a fireplace and glass doors to a shaded porch that runs along the front of the house and overlooks a brick-paved parking pad. The kitchen, awkwardly configured with butcher block counter tops, and odd counter top configuration and more than one type of tile flooring, is open to a dining area that leads to the recently re-landscaped backyard. The unexpectedly over-sized master suite includes a second corner fireplace, direct access to the backyard, a closet-lined dressing area easily converted to a walk-in closet, and a brand-new bathroom with two-person soaking tub set into a marble-sheathed platform and a couple of oculus windows set into the mirror behind the marble-topped two-sink vanity. The backyard isn’t particularly big but manages to squeeze in a trellis-shaded dining terrace, an outdoor shower, a wee bit of lawn and a brick-ringed swimming pool.
Mister Felton’s post-“Harry Potter” gigs have included recurring roles on the TV series “Murder in the First” and “The Flash” and he has three leading roles in feature films in the hopper including the Kate Mara-starring biographical drama “Megan Leavey.”
