Scott Cooper Lists Brentwood Contemporary (EXCLUSIVE)

Bit-part actor turned up-and-coming writer-director-producer Scott Cooper, best known for the critically acclaimed film “Crazy Heart” and currently at work on the upcoming feature “Hostiles” with Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike, has made his light-filled 1960s-era contemporary in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles available, with an asking price just shy of $3.7 million. Purchased, per property records, in early 2012 for $1.8 million, and privately set behind secured gates on a nearly quarter-acre lot in convenient and much-coveted lower Mandeville Canyon, the single-level residence measures in at not quite 3,300 square feet, with four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, along with four fireplaces.

It’s a few steps down from the glass-lined courtyard entry to an airy living room with vaulted and beamed ceiling, yellow-toned peg-and-groove-style hardwood floors, and a fireplace rustically clad in reclaimed wood planks. A bookshelf-lined den adjoins the living room, and the generously oversized dining room, with angled fireplace and a wide bank of glass sliders, leads to a cook’s kitchen with slab marble countertops on seal-gray cabinetry. The kitchen opens over an integrated snack counter to a breakfast room/den with fireplace. Numerous and long expanses of nearly floor-to-ceiling windows and glass doors along the rear facade allow for a seamless connection to a somewhat compact backyard that offers a stone dining terrace next to a free-form swimming pool and spa set into lushly landscaped gardens and a privacy-ensuring thicket of mature shrubs and trees.
