Rock Hudson’s Studio City Bachelor Pad Up for Sale (EXCLUSIVE)

LOCATION: Studio City, CA
PRICE: $1,095,000
SIZE: 1,008 square feet, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: An alluringly secluded mid-century residence tucked into the scrubby hills above Coldwater Canyon in L.A.’s Studio City community and once home to late and legendary Hollywood heartthrob Rock Hudson has come available at $1,095,000. The pint-sized post-and-beam style residence, which measures in at just 1,008-square-feet, was designed by renown modernist architect Ralph Bowerman, built in 1950, and said have been rented by the brutally handsome Hudson from 1951-1955. And, indeed, online marketing materials include photographic evidence the legendary actor, who died in 1985 from AIDS-related issues, was photographed at the house for a Hollywood At Home feature in Architectural Digest.

It’s an undeniably considerable hike up the steep hillside from the two-car carport to the front door of the restored and updated one-bedroom and one-bathroom residence that’s been colorfully and eclectically furnished by the home’s current owner who picked up the silver screen pedigreed pad not quite four years ago, in June 2012, for $640,000. The petite pavilion, with polished concrete floors and floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, incorporates a small but proper foyer that leads to a roomy, sun-bathed combination living/dining and kitchen that spills out to a generously proportioned deck that gives way to a swimming pool private enough to skinny dip without fear of being peeped by neighbors. The grounds were done up, according to listing details, by an un-named but “noted L.A. landscape designer” with “multiple outdoor ‘living rooms,’” an integrated sound system that reaches into “the furthest parts of the gardens,” and the an extensive security system that includes multiple outdoor cameras.
