Calvin Harris Lists Contemporary Above Sunset Strip (EXCLUSIVE)

SELLER: Calvin Harris
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
PRICE: $9,995,000
SIZE: 4 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Spectacularly successful and superrich Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, a man otherwise known in the celebrity tabs and gossip glossies as pop supernova Taylor Swift’s handsomely scruffy-faced paramour, listed a glassy, city-view micro-compound above Los Angeles’s ever-chic Sunset Strip with an asking price of $9.995 million. Property records show Mister Harris, the highest paid DJ on the planet the last three years running with a mind-numbing haul in 2015 that Forbes estimated at around $66 million, purchased the property in April 2013 for exactly $7,000,000. A quick comparison with digital marketing materials from the time of his purchase shows the property has had a light cosmetic refreshment (i.e., the windows, door frames and ceiling beams were painted jet black and some light fixtures changed) and current listing details describe the property as a “Zen inspired Architectural Contemporary masterpiece,” the exact words used to describe the property in listing details from 2013. The property, nearly a quarter acre tucked into a hairpin curve on a twisty street between the Bird Street’s ‘hood and BevHills’s Trousdale Estates, offers a total of four bedrooms and seven bathrooms divided between the 4,127-square-foot, two-story main house and a sizable, separate and self-contained two-story guesthouse with private secured entrance, lounge with kitchenette, and a second floor bedroom with glass walls, vaulted and beamed ceiling, and small balcony.

The white-walled and hardwood floored open-plan living spaces include a combination living/dining room with vaulted and beamed ceiling; a sleek, open kitchen with stainless steel back splash and integrated snack counter; and roomy step-down family room with wet bar and stacked stone fireplace; and a somewhat compact but unquestionably state-of-the-art home theater with huge screen and surround sound. The spacious, city view master suite, on top of the family room, has another stacked stone fireplace, adjoining sitting area, vast and voluminous bathroom, and an extensive closet/dressing area. Other features of note include parking for up to ten cars behind gates; an infinity edge swimming pool that tightly hugs the rear end of the main house; a spa space with sauna/steam room; a trellis covered and bamboo ringed outdoor lounge with linear fire pit and cushioned built-in banquette seating; and a high-tech home automation system that incorporates fingerprint security.

Popular on Variety

It not such a surprise to this property gossip Mister Harris has opted sell his Sunset Strip aerie given that in August 2014 he shelled out $15 million for a much more extensive, 2.66-acre compound on a celeb-lined private road in the Beverly Post Office area that encompasses, according to listing details from the time of his purchase, 18,000-square-feet of interior space across at least three structures with a total of ten bedrooms and 11.5 bathrooms.

As for Miss Swift, who herself was estimated by Forbes to have raked in around $80 million in 2015, we hear from impeccably well-connected real estate yenta Yolanda Yakkekyyak that even though she owns another cottage-type residence tucked deep in a Beverly Hills canyon she has pretty much moved into Mister Harris’s Beverly Hills Post Office compound while she renovates the illustrious, multi-acre Samuel Goldwyn estate above Beverly Hills’s Coldwater Canyon that she scooped up in September 2015 for $25 million.
