SELLER: Amy Schumer
LOCATION: New York City, NY
PRICE: $1,625,000
SIZE: 850 square feet, 1 bedroom, 1.5 bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Saucy stand-up comedian Amy Schumer’s upwardly mobile career hasn’t translated to much success in selling her New York City starter apartment, now priced at $1.625 million. The new price reflects a hefty $450,000 discount off the $2.075 million asking price the co-operative popped up with last November and, unfortunately for the foul-mouthed funny lady’s real estate ego and swelling bank accounts, $70,000 less than the $1.695 million she shelled out for the fourth-floor walk-up penthouse in September 2014

The approximately 850-square-foot apartment, which occupies the entire top floor of a 20-foot-wide turn-of-the-century brownstone just half of a block west of the Museum of Natural History on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and carries maintenance fees of $1,477 per month, has one bedroom and 1.5 bathrooms. A small foyer opens to a combination living/dining room with honey-toned hardwoods and a fireplace set between floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and storage cabinets while the fairly compact kitchen has a sky light and complete suite of name-brand appliances including a full-sized commercial style four-burner range and side-by-side under-counter fridge and freezer. A short, closet-lined hall, off of which opens a half bathroom that despite its puny proportions manages to do double duty as a laundry room, leads to a pleasantly ample bedroom with impractically tiny closet, second fireplace, and attached bathroom with classy marble counter top, vintage claw-footed soaking tub, and separate shower stall. The apartment comes with deeded ownership and private, internal access to the roof where two decks, one of them backed by a trellised privacy screen, are linked by a boardwalk lined with potted plants.

For those with a desire for more space and more money to spend, the apartment downstairs — same size and almost the exact same layout except different finishes and no sky lights or private terrace — is also for sale with at $1.295 million and could perhaps be combined with Schumer’s penthouse to create a 2-3 bedroom duplex.

The busy as a beaver stand-up comedian who wrote, co-produced and starred in the 2015 hit “Trainwreck,” which tallied up some $138 million in worldwide box office, continues to write, produce and star in her eponymous sketch series “Inside Amy Schumer” and will executive produce and star in next year’s action comedy “Mother/Daughter” that will also star Tom Bateman, Ike Barenholtz and Goldie Hawn in her first film role since 2002’s “The Banger Sisters.”
