Samsung unveiled the latest version of the Galaxy Note at its Unpacked event in New York Tuesday, and also took the wraps of a slightly updated accessory: Along with the Galaxy Note 7, consumers will also be able to buy a new version of the company’s Gear VR headset.

The new Galaxy Note 7 features many of the same internals as the company’s recently-updated S7 and S7 Edge handsets, including a powerful quad-core Snapdragon 820 chipset and 4 GB of RAM as well as the same 12 megapixel camera. The display of the Note 7 also comes with curved edges like the ones used for the S7 Edge, which offer quick access to select apps and information.

However, there are a few things that are unique to the Galaxy Note 7. The phone comes with a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED display, which works in conjunction with the Note 7 Pen, as Samsung is calling its stylus.

It also features an iris scanner that scans your eyes as a kind of biometric fingerprint. Galaxy Note S7 owners can unlock their phone with this iris scanner, and will eventually also be able to authenticate electronic payments simply by staring at their phone.

In combination with the Note 7, Samsung also unveiled a slightly updated version of its Gear VR virtual reality headset. The new Gear VR sports a dark-blue plastic case instead of the previous white casing, but it also comes with some moderate internal updates.

Samsung has managed to give the headset a somewhat wider field-of-view, increasing it from 96 to 101 degrees. This should make for a slight improvement in immersion, but probably won’t be enough entice any owners of the previous Gear VR to upgrade.

Still, the new Gear VR is compatible with both the new Galaxy Note 7 as well as existing Samsung phones, including the S7 and S7 Edge as well as the S6 and S6 Edge and the Note 5. That’s despite the fact that the new Note S7 comes with a USB-C type of connector, whereas previous Samsung phones used micro USB plugs. To play nice with both, the new Gear VR headset utilizes swappable adapters.

The new Galaxy Note 7 and the new Gear VR headset are both available starting August 19th, with pre-orders beginning on August 3. The Note 7 will cost $850 and up, with exact prices depending on retailers and carriers. The updated Gear VR will once again sell for $99.
