Miller joined Kin earlier this year in the newly created role, where she oversees development, production and distribution of content on Kin’s owned-and-operated channels. In addition, she is in charge of developing the company’s content strategy for emerging distribution platforms and striking new partnerships.
Prior to joining Kin, Miller was CEO and founder of Penny Chic, a multichannel content, apparel and entertainment brand for young women geared around affordable style. In addition to brokering an apparel deal with Walmart, she is the author of “Penny Chic: How to Be Stylish on a Real Girl’s Budget.”
“Miller’s experience as a creator and branded entertainment expert make her uniquely qualified to forge this new programming path for Kin as the company evolves into a full-fledged media brand,” Kin CEO Michael Wayne said in announcing her hire.
The Santa Monica, Calif.-based company this summer banked $13.5 million in Series D financing, led by previous investor Emil Capital Partners, with participation from Tegna (the new name of Gannett Co.’s broadcasting business) and Canada’s Corus Entertainment and Australia’s Allure Media.
Kin’s network of 120-plus lifestyle content creators include Rosanna Pansino, Hannah Hart, Jenn Im, Lauren Riihimaki and Joy Cho. The company says it has more than 170 million social followers and delivers some 600 million video views per month.
