Kevin Bacon is in negotiations to join Amazon pilot “I Love Dick,” Variety has learned.

Bacon would play the title character in the sex comedy from “Transparent” creator Jill Soloway. Amazon gave the show, adapted from Chris Kraus’ psycho-sexual novel of the same name, a pilot order in Februuary.

“I Love Dick” is set to star Kathryn Hahn as one half of a married couple, Chris and Sylvere, that shares a mutual obsession with an off-putting but charismatic college professor named Dick—to be played by Bacon. Set in the colorful community of Marfa, Texas, “I Love Dick” is told in “Rashomon”-style shifting points of view.

Soloway and Andrea Sperling’s newly formed company Topple Productions is producing the half-hour pilot under an overall deal with Amazon Studios. The pilot is being written by Sarah Gubbins and directed by Soloway. Sperlin and Soloway will serve as executive producers. Gubbins will co-exec produce.

“I Love Dick” would be Bacon’s first series since “The Following,” which ran on Fox from 2013 to 2015. He is also signed on to Universal Cable Productions’ series adaptations of the feature film “Tremors.”

News of Bacon’s deal for “I Love Dick” was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
