Mike Farah is the new CEO of Funny Or Die, after serving as the digital comedy brand’s president of production.
Mitch Galbraith, who was serving as the interim CEO following Dick Glover’s departure last September to join Mandalay Sports Media, will resume his role as COO. Farah’s appointment was announced to FOD staff Thursday.
“Mike Farah is a force of nature, who lives and breathes Funny Or Die,” said Adam McKay, co-founder of Funny Or Die. “Will (Ferrell) and I are thrilled that he is finally becoming CEO of this great company he helped build.”
Farah joined Funny Or Die since 2008, coming in first as a producer and rising to president of production overseeing day-to-day operations, along with Funny Or Die’s TV and long-form programming. He won two Primetime Emmys for his work as executive producer of “Between Two Ferns with Zach Galfianakis.” Farah also is the executive producer of “Billy on the Street” on truTV, Comedy Central’s “@midnight” and the upcoming “Brockmire” series for IFC.
Funny Or Die was founded by CAA and Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy; Judd Apatow also is a principal partner. The company’s investors include Time Warner and Sequoia Capital.
At one point, the L.A.-based company had been potentially looking at a sale: In the fall of 2014, Funny Or Die retained a financial adviser to evaluate prospective bids for the company.
