Emmy Award-Winning VR Studio Felix & Paul Releases Second Cirque du Soleil Experience on Gear VR

Montreal-based virtual reality (VR) studio Felix & Paul released their second cooperation with Cirque du Soleil on Samsung’s Gear VR headset Thursday. “KÀ The Battle Within” is a 13-minute experience based on Cirque du Soleil’s “KÀ,” and was previously featured at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Felix & Paul previously released “Inside the Box of Kurios” as its first cooperation with Cirque du Soleil for virtual reality headsets, an experience that takes viewers on stage with performers of the renown circus troupe. Felix & Paul won an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Interactive Media – Original Daytime Program  for that production.

Felix & Paul is best known for its cinematic virtual reality experiences, and recently cooperated with the White House on an experience that featured President Obama celebrating the 100th birthday of the U.S. National Park Service.

The company’s Chief Content Officer Ryan Horrigan told Variety at the time that Felix & Paul is tweaking its customized camera setup for each and every project to create a sense of intimacy and push the boundaries of VR story-telling. Felix & Paul hired Horrigan earlier this year to run the company’s Los Angeles studio. Previously, Horrigan worked as a senior development and production exec at New Regency, where his projects included  “12 Years a Slave” and “Noah.”
