Christina Alejandre will serve as VP and g.m. of ELeague, which plans to launch its 10-week season of competitive gaming in May, starting with the Valve Corporation title “Counter Strike: Global Offensive.” Min-Sik Ko will serve as commissioner.
Alejandre is a 15-year vidgame biz veteran who will be tasked with driving strategy and partnerships for the nascent league, which will present games online and a featured game of the week on TBS. Ko was previously head of e-sports for WME/IMG following the agency’s acquisition of his Global eSports Management shingle. As commissioner Ko will oversee administrative and business matters for the league and its teams.
Alejandre reports to Craig Barry, exec VP of production and chief content officer for Turner Sports.
“Christina’s proven track record and experience as a leader in the entertainment, gaming and eSports industries make her uniquely qualified to lead and drive the day-to-day business operations of ELeague,” said Barry.
“Min-Sik’s unparalleled experience in strategic management and organizational administration in the world of eSports makes him the perfect candidate to lead ELeague as its Commissioner,” said Tobias Sherman, who co-founded GEM with Ko and now heads WME/IMG’s eSports division.
