Fusion is bringing comedian Chris Gethard to Facebook: The millennial-focused cable network will stream a weekly episode of the “Chris Gethard Show” on Facebook Live, the social network’s live video platform. Fusion will premiere Chris Gethard’s weekly Facebook Live show this Thursday at 8 p.m. ET with special guest Lena Dunham.

However, Fusion isn’t just simulcasting Gethard’s cable show on Facebook. Instead, it is using Telescope’s Live Studio software, which will make it possible to integrate curated comments from viewers, polls and more.

Facebook announced at its f8 developer conference in San Francisco on Wednesday that it is opening up Live to TV networks and others using professional video equipment. Whereas Live was previously limited to streaming from mobile phones, Fusion is now using a multi-camera setup for broadcast-quality streams.

For Chris Gethard, the partnership between Fusion and Facebook is just another step in an unusual distribution strategy. Gethard began his show in 2011 on public access television in New York, and also distributed videos of it on the Web. Comedy Central briefly considered picking up the show in 2013, but eventually passed. Instead, Gethard landed in 2014 at Fusion, which recently renewed the show for a second season.
