Apple officially started selling its AirPods earbuds Monday, but don’t expect to be able to pick up any at your local Apple store: A number of Apple’s retail locations across the country sold out of AirPods within minutes, according to reports on Twitter.

Apple first introduced AirPods when it unveiled the latest iPhone in September. However, the earbuds didn’t ship in time due to unspecified production issues, and only became available for pre-order last week, with the company telling consumers that it would make limited quantities available this week.

Apple’s website doesn’t offer a store inventory checker, but a number of customers reported Monday on Twitter that stores just got a very limited number of the sought-after device.

Apple’s website currently tells customers that it will ship new orders in six weeks. Best Buy’s site states that AirPods are not available in stores, and won’t ship until February 7 next year. So if you are looking to give AirPods as a gift this holiday season, it may be time to consider alternatives.

The constrained AirPods supply comes after Apple ditched the headphone jack with the iPhone 7, at the time telling consumers that wireless headphones like the AirPods were the future. To add insult to injury, Apple also had to postpone the launch of its BeatsX wireless headphones until next year.
