Amazon has ordered “Lore,” an anthology-horror series based on the popular podcast of the same name. The series hails from executive producers Gale Anne Hurd (“The Walking Dead”), Ben Silverman (“The Office”), and Howard T. Owens (“The Biggest Loser”).
“Lore” explores the real-life origins of horror-genre staples such as vampires, zombies, werewolves, ghosts, serial killers, and witches. The series has received a 10-episode initial-season order from Amazon, and will be available to Amazon Prime subscribers worldwide in 2017.
“’Lore’ is a thrilling podcast with a rabid following, and we jumped at the opportunity to work with Gale Anne Hurd, Ben Silverman and Howard Owens to develop it into a series for Amazon Prime members,” said Conrad Riggs, head of unscripted, Amazon Originals. “The series will be a truly unnerving and exciting experience that Prime members will not forget.”
The “Lore” podcast was created by Aaron Mahnke and launched in March, 2015. “Lore” has over 3.2 million monthly listens.

Brett-Patrick Jenkins (“Face Off”) and Aaron Mahnke will also executive produce the series, with Glenn Morgan serving as showrunner. The series is produced by produced by Propagate Content and Valhalla Entertainment.
