TOKYO — Amazon Japan has begun streaming a new series on its Prime
Video service, starting today. Titled “Uchu no Shigoto” (translation: “Outer Space
Work”,) the 10-part series is a quirky take on the alien invasion genre.

The director is Yuichi Fukuda, whose credits include “Hentai Kamen: The Abnormal
Crisis,” an action comedy popular on the international festival circuit. Among the stars are Tsuyoshi Muro, Masaki Suda, Kanto Kaku and Nanase Nishino.

The Dentsu ad agency is in charge of production, assisted by production outfit PlusD.

“With the cooperation of Amazon, we were able to make a wonderful set (for the series),” said Fukuda in a statement. “But in the end we’re in a ‘battle for laughs.’ Who gets the most laughs wins. That’s a really great war to be in.”
