AwesomenessTV Seals Sales, Production Deal with U.K.’s ITV

AwesomenessTV’s series include 'Freakish' for Hulu

ITV, the U.K.’s leading free-to-air commercial broadcaster, has acquired exclusive U.K. premiere rights to AwesomenessTV’s long-form series. The companies will also team up to produce youth-focused original series together.

As part of the deal, ITV will create an extended weekend program for its entertainment channel ITV2 beginning early next year, which will be hosted by young talent and will feature the acquired scripted and unscripted AwesomenessTV series.

For the first year of the deal, ITV has acquired 75 hours of AwesomenessTV shows for both the ITV2 program and for its online platform, ITV Hub. This will increase to 100 hours in 2018. ITV Hub will have the exclusive online U.K. premiere of a number of AwesomenessTV shows — the first time ITV’s on-demand service will have exclusive original series.

The partnership will also see AwesomenessTV and ITV’s production arm, ITV Studios, joining forces to co-produce scripted and unscripted programs for ITV2. ITV’s international sales division, ITV Global Entertainment, will license these shows in international markets.

AwesomenessTV’s series include “Guidance” and “Tagged” for Verizon’s go90 platform, and the upcoming “Freakish” for Hulu.

Brian Robbins, founder and CEO of AwesomenessTV, said: “AwesomenessTV is a global brand, and this deal reinforces the value of our premium scripted series with our audience as we expand locally into all the markets of the world.”
