Hulu has hired Gaude Paez, formerly head of Fox Broadcasting’s corporate communications and digital publicity, as VP and head of corporate communications.

In the newly created role, Paez will report directly to Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins, who led Fox Networks distribution before joining the company in October 2013. She is based at Hulu’s Santa Monica, Calif., headquarters and started Monday.

At Hulu, Paez will oversee external communications initiatives, including development and implementation of all communications strategies in support of the company’s brand, market position, vision and overall business growth. Barrie Gruner will continue to oversee publicity for Hulu original series and acquisitions, along with talent relations and events, reporting directly to chief marketing officer Jenny Wall.

As Fox Broadcasting’s senior VP of corporate communications and digital publicity, Paez was responsible for senior executive communications, as well as corporate positioning and issues management around network performance, executive leadership, program development, marketing, digital initiatives, audience strategy and research.

Prior to joining Fox in March 2009 as VP of corporate communications, Paez served in senior communications roles at Yahoo, where she oversaw strategic communications for the company’s search advertising business. She also has worked for Internet video startup Veoh Networks and public relations agency Burson-Marsteller. Paez began her career at New York-based Bozell Sawyer Miller Group (now part of Weber Shandwick).

Hulu is owned by 21st Century Fox, Disney and Comcast’s NBCUniversal.
