Dan Ilic, Fusion’s new executive producer for comedy, was most recently senior satire producer for AJ+, and Brooke Minters, formerly executive producer of AJ+’s explainer team, joins Fusion as executive producer of news video. Both will be based in Los Angeles.
The hires comes after Fusion tapped Jigar Mehta, formerly head of social media for AJ+, as VP of digital operations in February.
Ilic, who will start at Fusion next week, will lead the comedy video pod in L.A., working closely with Mehta, Bryan Carmel, Fusion’s VP of development and head of comedy, and the rest of the Fusion video and editorial teams. Previously he developed digital news video strategy for Australia’s Fairfax Media and worked for a range of shows Down Under including “Australia’s Funniest Home Videos,” “Axis of Awesome’s Election ’07 Rap Battle” and The Comedy Channel’s satirical news program “The Mansion.”
Minters most recently worked briefly at the Los Angeles Times, in a four-month stint as video editor, after she left AJ+ this past March. She will be primarily overseeing Fusion’s field news video pod in L.A. to produce more correspondent-led digital content. Prior to AJ+, Minters was a producer at Current TV.
