Streaming video giant, Netflix has acquired U.K. rights to Australian TV series “Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane.”

The six-part musical comedy series is produced by Sticky Pictures in association with Australian Broadcasting Corporation TV, Film Victoria and Screen Australia. It premiered in Australia late last year on Australian Broadcasting Corporation TV and is part of the line-up on NBC Universal’s U.S. comedy platform, SeeSo.

The show is a musical comedy about two mismatched housemates from Sammy J, who is is a hopeless, down-and-out lawyer who has now won a case in six years of legal practice, and Randy who is a cheating, gambling, drinking divorcee and a purple puppet.

It claimed three Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards nominations including best comedy.  Director Jonathan Brough recently won the Australian Director Guild’s award for best director – comedy.

“Following a successful premiere on ABC in Australia the series was picked up by NBC Universal in the US and now English audiences can enjoy this Aussie yet very universal comedy series,” said Sticky Pictures’ CEO and Executive Producer Donna Andrews.
