ATF: BeVRR Launches $10 Million Fund With ‘Dining Stars’

SINGAPORE — Singapore-based virtual reality specialist, BeVRR is launching “Dining Stars,” an eight-episode lifestyle show, it was announced at the Asia Television Forum & Market Tuesday.

The show is the first venture of the BeVRR VR Fund that aims to invest some $10.5 million over five years to develop VR content in Asia. Singapore-based fund management outfit Stega Capital is managing the fund.

“Dining Stars” was filmed entirely in the 360-degree VR format that allows the viewer to look around in all directions like in real life. It is hosted by model Rebecca Tan and the audience is able to virtually dine with her and her celebrity guests in destination restaurants. It releases Dec. 14.

Ellie Ngim, director of several shorts including “Will You Be My Valentine?” and “Lollypop Love” and who was a 2015 directing fellow at the Busan Film Academy, directed the series.

“The process of content creation is completely different in 360 VR.  We hope this series will inspire the content creators to explore and innovate in new grounds,” Ngim said.
