Anne Sweeney’s Mother Dies at 85

Anne J. Sweeney, the mother of Anne M. Sweeney, formerly co-chair of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney/ABC Television Group, died in Los Angeles on Friday, December 11, 2015. She was 85.

Her great passion in life was teaching. She taught in Hudson, N.Y,, and later in the Kingston Consolidated School District for 18 years. She also taught evening adult education with her husband at John F. Kennedy Elementary School.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York Teacher’s College at Oswego in 1951.

She is survived by her three children, Anne M. Sweeney and her husband Philip H. Miller of Los Angeles, Donald E. Sweeney of Kingston, and Rosemary Sweeney Hanczor and her husband Robert Hanczor of San Diego; as well as seven grandchildren.
