UTA Launches Downtown L.A. Artist Space With Larry Clark Show

United Talent Agency has launched the UTA Artist Space, a new multidisciplinary exhibition setting that opens Sept. 17.

Located in Boyle Heights near downtown Los Angeles, the 4,500-square foot space will serve UTA’s roster of artists, musicians, filmmakers, writers and more. In addition, the venue will host a wide range of programming, including readings, performances, screenings, and large-scale exhibitions. The opening exhibition will host the work of filmmaker-artist Larry Clark.

“We are dedicated to seizing opportunities for artists, and UTA Artist Space provides a place for artists to interface with the public and each other in a dynamic, supportive way,” said Jim Berkus, UTA Chairman and Co-Founder. “We are thrilled to inaugurate this mission by hosting Larry Clark and his extraordinary work.”

Clark’s exhibition will “present unseen vintage photographs from his past alongside his newer forays into drug-inspired painting and photo-montage.” His 1968 film “Tulsa” will also screen.

“When UTA invited Larry Clark to exhibit his work in Los Angeles for the first time in over a decade, it made so much sense to us,” said Lawrence Luhring, co-owner of Luhring Augustine gallery in New York City.

UTA launched the space as part of its commitment to help artists gain access to opportunities and to showcase global talent and new work. Among the fine artists it reps are Ai Weiwei and Judy Chicago.
