Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Robert Smigel’s furry alter ego, has been making surprise appearances at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. In a Facebook Live video, Triumph delivered a behind-the-scenes look at the convention while wearing a Make America Great Again hat and interviewed Donald Trump supporters or “white guys in cowboys hats” as he called them.
“Which minority would you want deported first? Mexicans or Trump supporters who finished middle school?” he asked one supporter.
“What do you guys think of the Black Lives Matter movement? Don’t worry, there’s not a black person for miles around here,” he asked others.
Triumph also chatted with several news anchors and crashed several of the live sets, including CNN’s Anderson Cooper, telling him there was “not too much excitement tonight.”
“I don’t think you know this, but I photobombed you,” he told Cooper.
“I also saw you were holding a sign that said, ‘I don’t care that Melania Trump stole my jokes,'” replied Cooper.
To which Triumph replied: “Oh, that was on MSNBC. Anderson Cooper watches MSNBC! It’s okay everyone, he’s just like the rest of us!”
Triumph also made fun of Jake Tapper’s tweets about the theme of the evening, “Make America Work Again.”
Triumph replied, “Last night’s theme was ‘Get Scott Baio Some Work Again!'”
Wolf Blitzer was not immune to the rabid canine comedian. He recalled meeting him for the first time.
“I complimented him for having the integrity of keeping his porno name,” said Triumph.
The next “Election Special” will premiere on August 10 on Hulu.
