Variety announced on Monday the honorees for its upcoming Power of Women event in Los Angeles, feting some of the most philanthropic women in Hollywood and their work with their respective causes.
The honorees at the event will be “Orange Is the New Black” and “Doubt” star Laverne Cox (National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs); singer, songwriter, and actress Miley Cyrus (Happy Hippie Foundation); “13th” and “A Wrinkle in Time” director Ava DuVernay (1000 Black Girl Books); Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren (The Stuttering Association for the Young); and “Avengers” and “Ghost in the Shell” star Scarlett Johansson.
Variety‘s Power of Women event, presented by Lifetime Television, will take place at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons on Oct. 14, 2016. Each woman will also be featured on the cover of Variety‘s Oct. 11 issue.

The event will also honor Spanx founder Sara Blakely with its inaugural Innovation & Leadership award for her work in creating the Sara Blakely Foundation and empowering women in the workplace. Designer and Marchesa co-founder Georgina Chapman will be honored with this year’s Moroccanoil Inspiration to Action award.
The Variety 2016 EmPOWerment Award, honoring an executive who champions female leadership, will be given to Universal Music Group Chairman and CEO Sir Lucian Grainge.
