Son of ‘Real Housewives’ Alum Charged with Attempted Murder

Joshua Waring, son of former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Lauri Peterson, was arrested for the attempted murder of Daniel Lopez, as well as vehicle theft, felony evading, hit and run and assault and battery on Monday, the Costa Mesa Police Department confirmed.

Costa Mesa police received a report of a gunshot victim at a residence in the 2900 block of Babb Street on Monday. When they arrived, they found Lopez, who had suffered a gunshot to his lower torso. Witnesses at the scene identified Waring as the shooter.

Waring fled the scene in a stolen white 2011 BMW X3 sport utility vehicle, but was spotted by an Orange County Sheriff’s helicopter in Santa Ana and attempted to evade officers. During the pursuit, Waring was involved in a traffic accident and later fled the vehicle to hide inside of a local business.

After a brief standoff, Waring surrendered to the Santa Ana Police.

Police found evidence related to the attempted murder inside of the vehicle, but the gun used in the crime is still outstanding, according to police. Lopez was transported to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive.

Waring’s bail is set at $1 million.

Peterson was a cast member on “Real Housewives of Orange County” from its launch in 2006 until 2008.
