Joseph Biden Drops by ‘Whiskey Tango Foxtrot’ Premiere

Vice President Joseph Biden and his wife Jill were among the guests attending an MPAA-hosted D.C. screening of “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot,” the upcoming movie about journalist Kim Barker (played by Tina Fey), who reported from Afghanistan and Pakistan in the aftermath of 9/11.

Secretary of State John Kerry, Sen. Al Franken, Lorne Michaels and MPAA chairman Chris Dodd also attended the event at the U.S. Navy Memorial, along with Fey and screenwriter Robert Carlock. The evening was scheduled to feature a discussion on wartime journalism.

Martin Freeman, Alfred Molina, Billy Bob Thornton, Stephen Peacocke and Sheila Vand also star. The film is directed by “Crazy Stupid Love” helmers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa.

Barker chronicled her time reporting in the Middle East for the Chicago Tribune in her 2011 memoir “The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan.” The film is scheduled to open March 4.
