Comic Relief Inc., the org that introduced the Red Nose Day campaign in the U.S., has named Janet Scardino as CEO.

Scardino joins the nonprofit org with extensive experience in the TV, digital and marketing fields, including senior posts at Disney, MTV, AOL, Sunbow Entertainment and Reuters. Most recently she served as the COO of Saban Brands, the group behind the “Power Rangers” franchise and previously as the CEO of the entertainment marketing platform Viggle Inc.

“We are thrilled to have Janet join Comic Relief Inc., leading the U.S. arm of the charity and building a U.S-based team to take the organization forward,” said Comic Relief U.K. CEO Kevin Cahill in a statement. “Her depth of experience in launching iconic television properties, building brand partnerships and driving consumer engagement will be a huge asset for Comic Relief and Red Nose Day in America.”

Comic Relief Inc., which is an independent sister org of Comic Relief UK,  presented its inaugural U.S.-based Red Nose Day live fundraising event on NBC last May. The telecast raised $23 million for both American and international youth in need. This year’s event is set for May 26.
