Trump, in an appearance on “The O’Reilly Factor” on Fox News, may be trying to set expectations for his performance at the first debate, now just a week away. It’ll be held at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., on Sept. 26.
Trump called Holt a “professional” and said that he respected him, but he said that supporters of Clinton were “gaming the system” and “trying to intimidate” Lester into being tough on him. Trump cited criticism of Matt Lauer for his performance at the recent Commander in Chief Forum. Critics chided Lauer for not calling out Trump on his claim that he was opposed to the war in Iraq from the start.
“They are gaming the ref, that is what they are doing,” Trump said.
Trump called Holt a “Democrat” as well as the moderators of the second presidential debate, Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddatz. “They’re all Democrats,” Trump said.
But he assured O’Reilly that he would show up for the debates.
Trump also called Cooper “very unfair,” citing his coverage on CNN.
