Trump told a rally in New Hampshire on Thursday that he “had to put up with the anchor and fight the anchor all the time on everything I said. What a rigged deal.”
Trump has complained about Holt’s questions in the aftermath of the debate, while insisting that he won the debate.
“Every single online poll we won,” Trump said. But the polls he has been citing, like those from Drudge and Time, have been unscientific surveys that do not show a random sample. Rather, they are tallies of online votes.
Trump also has suggested that he was intentionally given a faulty microphone at the debate. According to a random sample poll from Public Policy Polling, 40% of his supporters think he was deliberately given a bad microphone, while 37% disagree and 23% who aren’t sure. Among all voters, just 23% believe that he was given a bad mic.
The poll also showed that his supporters share his skepticism of Holt. He has a 37% to 28% favorability rating nationally, but it is just 18% among Trump supporters. Holt has a 56% favorability among Clinton backers.
The next presidential debate is on Oct. 9 at Washington University in St. Louis.
