David L. Burg, a senior attorney with NBCUniversal, is moving to the boutique Los Angeles litigation firm of Scheper Kim & Harris.
The downtown Los Angeles firm plans to expand its motion picture and entertainment litigation practice with the addition of Burg, who was senior vice president and associate general counsel for the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group. He oversaw litigation and dispute resolution for Universal’s film and theme park businesses around the world.
Burg, a graduate of the UC Berkeley School of Law, Burg, was appointed to the Los Angeles City Planning Commission by former Mayor James Hahn. His move to Scheper Kim is expected to also beef up the firm’s real estate and general business litigation practice.
Burg said he enjoyed his 10 years with NBCUni and is looking forward to returning to the “front line” as a litigator for clients.
Scheper Kim will have 16 lawyers after the addition of Burg. The firm has concentrated on complex civil litigation and appellate matters, along with white collar criminal defense work. The firm won attention in April when it won a reversal of a USC football player’s suspension, following an incident involving the player and a female student.
