USA Network, which has been looking for a breakout reality hit, appears to have found one in “Chrisley Knows Best,” whose season premiere set series highs last week.

According to Nielsen “live-plus 3” estimates, Tuesday’s back-to-back episodes averaged 1.48 million adults 18-49 (1.17 national rating), 1.68 million adults 25-54 (1.4 rating) and 2.92 million viewers overall, with the second half-hour rating a little higher than the first in all categories. “Chrisley” ranked second for the night among cable shows in adults 25-54 (behind only Discovery’s “Deadliest Catch”), shooting up by about 40% vs. its fall 2014 season premiere.

The show fares pretty well in DVR playback for a reality show, with its L+3 rating representing a jump over it same-day ratings of more than 35% in both 18-49 (0.84 vs. 1.17) and total viewers (2.92 million vs. 2.17 million).

The show revolves around millionaire Todd Chrisley, the outspoken patriarch of his Atlanta family. It took home the NATPE Reality Breakthrough Awards in the “docusoap” category earlier this year.

USA ordered 18 episodes of “Chrisley Knows Best” for the show’s third season. Its current 12-episode summer session will conclude on July 21, and six additional original episodes will air later in the year.

“Chrisley Knows Best” is produced by Maverick TV and All3Media America, with Adam Greener, Stephanie Block Chambers, Marilyn Wilson, Jen Perry Leamy, Jim Sayer, Eli Holzman and Stephen Lambert serving as executive producers. Annie Kate Pons serves as supervising producer.
