‘Younger’ Picked Up for Season 2 at TV Land

TV Land has ordered a second season of freshman dramedy “Younger,” Variety has learned. Season 2 will consist of 12 new episodes.

From Darren Star (“Sex and the City”), “Younger” stars Sutton Foster as Liza, a 40-year-old single mother who pretends to be 26, in order to land a job in the highly competitive world of publishing, and then has to figure out how to balance her real life with her best friend Maggie (Debi Mazar), and her fake life with new friend and twentysomething co-worker Kelsey (Hilary Duff), all while embarking on an exciting and somewhat confusing relationship with younger, sexy tattoo artist Josh (Nico Tortorella).

“‘Younger’ is the first step in TV Land’s evolution, and we are very proud to announce a second season,” said Keith Cox, exec vice president of development and original programming for TV Land. “We’re thrilled to continue working with Darren, and really eager to see where he takes this story and our amazing cast next.”

Star commented, “We couldn’t be more excited that audiences are discovering ‘Younger’ and falling in love with our fabulous cast. I can’t wait to have everyone back in New York to shoot season two.”

“Younger” premiered with its first season on March 31, and will welcome guest stars Jane Krakowski, Ana Gasteyer, Martha Plimpton, Peter Hermann and Kathy Najimy. The Season 1 finale airs June 9.
