With only a few more episodes to go in “True Detective” season two, here’s where “Other Lives” — which fast forwards through time after last week’s big shootout — leaves the four main characters:
RAY VELCORO (COLIN FARRELL)
The man who raped Ray’s ex-wife, Alicia (Abigail Spencer), wasn’t actually killed like Ray believed. State Attorney Davis (Michael Hyatt) informs Ray they picked up someone whose DNA can be linked to the assault on Alicia (and on several others), and now he’s in jail.
The news disturbs Alicia, not because she’s upset that Ray didn’t avenge her attack, but because he told her he did, and in the process destroyed their relationship. The news also sends Ray straight to Frank (Vince Vaughn), looking for answers about who he really killed, and packing heat.
PAUL WOODRUGH (TAYLOR KITSCH)
He informs his trailer-trash mother (Lolita Davidovich) that he’s marrying his pregnant girlfriend. After he discovers she’s stolen $20,000 he had hidden in his closet, she tells him (in so many words) that she knows he’s gay.
ANI BEZZERIDES (RACHEL McADAMS)
She’s attending sexual harassment counseling groups and getting closer and closer to infiltrating the filthy rich sex parties that are somehow tied to whatever is rotten at the core of Vinci.
FRANK SEMYON (VINCE VAUGHN)
He’s got a big confrontation coming with Ray, but at least he seems to have made up with his wife, Jordan (Kelly Reilly), who has maybe finally made peace with not having a baby.
