Tom Werner, Brad Falchuk To Judge On New England Sports Network Series

Hollywood producers and Beantown heroes Tom Werner and Brad Falchuk, will mentor and judge New England collegiate filmmakers in the new show “NESN Next Producer,” airing on regional New England Sports Network on April 6.

The 7-episode weekly series showcases film students from the New England area who have created short sports films with the hope of winning $20,000 and a job opportunity at the network. Each episode will introduce two students, with the student-produced shorts posted at NESNnext.com.

Werner, Boston Red Sox Chairman and 24-time Emmy winner, and Falchuk, a native of Newton Mass. best known as the co-creator and showrunner of “Glee” and “American Horror Story,” will be responsible for coaching the finalists and picking a winner.

The project marks an ambitious undertaking for a regional sports network, especially one outside of New York or Los Angeles. “NESN Next Producer” co-creator and co-producer, Linda Pizzuti Henry, said that in addition to showing the films, the show will also zero in on the filmmakers on a personal level, highlighting their passion for New England sports.

“New England is a hotbed for young, creative minds and we wanted to highlight college filmmakers who are the next generation of storytellers from our area,” Henry said.
