“The Walking Dead” has cast “Luck” alum Tom Payne in the recurring role of Paul Monroe (aka “Jesus”) in season six, Variety has confirmed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Payne has an option for season seven, which implies the character could be sticking around — he’s currently still alive in the comics on which the show is based. THR describes Jesus as “a rare logical man and skilled adviser with a strong sense of morals and values who is well-adapted to the new world.”
In other casting news, “Mr. Robot” star Stephanie Corneliussen has been tapped for a villainous role on “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” bowing on The CW at midseason. According to Variety’s sister site TVLine, she’ll play DC Comics character Valentina Vostok, a “gifted and beautiful Soviet physicist who will stop at nothing to defend her precious ‘Motherland.'” The team will encounter her during the Cold War, and suspect her of working with immortal bad guy Vandal Savage (Casper Crump), leading Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) and Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller) to try and seduce her to find out where her loyalties lie. Corneliussen played the icy Joanna Wellick in USA’s breakout summer series.
