Steve Harvey has landed yet another hosting gig, plus “Elementary” has enlisted a new guest star. And, another “American Ninja Warrior” series will premiere after the new year, in today’s TV news roundup . . .
Steve Harvey is set to host “2015 Miss Universe,” which airs live on Dec. 20 from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
“Steve Harvey is one of the funniest, most likeable personalities on TV today, and he’s the perfect host for this very special evening,” said David Madden, president, entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “The combination of Steve and the talented, impressive women vying for the Miss Universe title is sure to make this a night to remember.”
Richard Kind has been cast in an episode of “Elementary’s” current season. He will play the gruff neighbor to Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan (Lucy Liu) who grows tired of his eccentric, noisy neighbors and decides to get even. TVLine first reported on Kind’s guest gig.
Steve Carell is Bravo’s next guest on “Inside the Actors Studio.” His episode will air on Dec. 17.
“It’s no longer a question of what can Steve Carell do,” said host James Lipton. “It’s a question of what can’t he do. And the answer is, apparently, nothing — as he demonstrated on our ‘Inside the Actors Studio’ stage, bringing our audience to laughter, tears and cheers.”
“Team Ninja Warrior” will premiere Jan. 19 on Esquire Network. The spinoff to “American Ninja Warrior” will have the best ninja warriors from around the world racing against each other in teams of three. The eight episodes will include 24 squads of three — two males and one female — running, jumping and climbing against each other until only two teams remain for a final relay.
