Eric McCormack‘s on-screen daughter has been found in British actress Florence Pugh who has been cast as the female lead in “Studio City,” Variety has learned. The Fox dramedy marks Pugh’s American television debut.

Pugh — who co-starred in the UK feature “The Falling” alongside “Game Of Thrones'” Maisie Williams — will play Cat, a rising singer/songwriter, living with her singer/songwriter-turned celebrity drug dealer dad, played by the “Will & Grace” actor.

Cat is a survivor with a sense of humor and big dreams, despite her dysfunctional family life, including her drug-dealing musician father and unstable alcoholic mother.

The project, described as a cross between “Shameless” and “The O.C.,” comes from the team behind “Shameless,” Krista Vernoff, Andrew Stearns and John Wells who will all serve as executive producers. The pilot was written by Vernoff, whose real-life experiences inspired the coming-of-age story.

Heather Graham and “SYTYCD” alum Jeanine Mason have also been cast in the pilot.

“Studio City” is produced by John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. TV.
